In January 2024, Alex Underhill, known online as Lexicon, won the Pokémon Portland Regional Championships Masters Division tournament.
Going into the tournament Alex says "I wanted nothing more than to beat teams using Landorus, it was making all other approaches feel impossible." And that he did.
His Pokémon team consisted of Chien-Pao. Dragonite, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Flutter Mane, Entei, and Raging Bolt. You can find the complete breakdown of each Pokémon's moves, items, abilities, and Tera types at https://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/regionals/2024/portland/vgc-masters.
Alex's 1st place win earned him an automatic invite to the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, $6000 USD, a medal, and some Pokémon TCG booster boxes.
Looking back, Alex says "It felt incredible to prove I could go all the way again for the first time since 2017. I played incredibly, and had such a memorable weekend I won't soon be forgetting."
Following his performance in Portland, Alex had a strong finish to the 2024 season, earning a personal best result at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships in Hawai'i going 8-3, being just one win away from the top cut. His 2025 season has also been off to a strong start, placing 111th in the very first Grand Challenge online event.
